Seeing Into the Future
Is determining what Trump will do, a matter of clairvoyance, or common sense?
It’s nice to know that if I am paranoid; I am in great company.
Over 700 Political Science Experts with advanced degrees* believe there is a greater than 90% chance of each of the following if Trump were returned to the presidency:
that he would fire Special Counsel Jack Smith (92%)
pardon convicted January 6 insurrectionists (92%)
suspend ongoing prosecutions of January 6 defendants (91%)
Large majorities of Republicans (72–81%) would approve of these actions.
These Experts also believe Trump would be very likely to:
open a criminal investigation into Biden or another leading Democrat (85%)
pardon himself of federal charges or convictions (83%).
GOP approval of these actions is high (84% and 68%, respectively)
Attempt to stay in office beyond January 2029 (60%)
Support falls below 50% only for attempting to stay in office. However, this action, which would explicitly violate the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, is still endorsed by 32% of Republicans.
invoke the Insurrection Act (59%)
withdraw from NATO (54%). GOP
GOP approval of these actions is lower, but majorities approve of withdrawing from NATO (56%)
At this point in our long national nightmare, we all know that Trump telegraphs and dog whistles what he intends to do to us to his minions. His veiled gangster style threats have now advanced to Hitler style rhetoric, and are always delivered with an endless stream of mendacity and projection.
It’s time for decent Americans to stop pretending that somewhere within the Fascist Fifth Column that is today’s Republican Party that we can “reach across the aisle” or find common cause with those who will relish doing us genuine harm.
Winning the Presidential Election with an undeniable popular vote majority as well as the Electoral College is the last peaceful option we have to save America from Fascism
